A Little Wining...

I have so many wine bottles to paint... Like, I really should be embarrassed how many are in the pantry floor. In my defense, I ask friends for them and just a few days ago I brought home two cool new liquor bottles. If I ever decided to do nothing but paint the bottles I have, I am pretty sure I would be a shut in with no time to do anything else. I also would likely run out of paint... amazing how much paint it takes to cover these critters.

I did find time to paint this one and I really like how it turned out. Happy Creating!

    A lil about me?

I am a girl at heart who just wants to smile a lot while I create cool stuff!

Now, I am not an English major and there will be plenty of typos and likely made up words in my paragraphs. I naturally talk with a lot of pauses in between my words... I try to think before I speak (yet some how I still put my foot in my mouth a lot lol) and I find I like to type just as I would speak in a group setting. So, that being said, I am not perfect nor do I aim to be. I am just me being me that is that.

    A little more about me?

Welp, one day I woke up and I was 43... feels like I went to sleep at 15y/0 and whammo presto change-o everything is bigger, looser and drags! I remember thinking people my age were super ancient when I was in my teens and here I am thinking  people in their teens are babies ha ha. I do not think I would trade my adult life to be a teen again though I mean, HOLY MOLY the drama of it all, NO THANKS! I will take my droops, headaches from squinting my eyes (yea, some how along the way, my near sighted vision has decided to under-achieve) and my need to take naps mid afternoon any day over mean girls and high school, bleh...pattoey!

I am married to a wonderful man named Jeff and we have 2 Akitas (Kakko and Kitsune), who some how think that the sun rises and falls on their butts (which I am starting to believe may actually be my fault, since I seem to cater to their every whim). We also have a cat, she is not a normal feline, no... she is a cat, who thinks she is a dog and by golly she is going to follow us every where just like the dogs, so in reality we have three dogs who try daily to assassinate us by being in the way constantly. I have yet to tell Dori-kitty  that she is a cat and at nearly 13 years old, I think I may have missed my window to explain it to her and it is doubtful she will believe me anyway, she is not really in the mood normally for what she thinks are my antics.

    Art?

Hmmm, how did I get here? One day I was at Joann's Fabric store with a friend looking for scrapbooking supplies and came across a book about Artist Trading Cards (ATC). Once I got home I started reading it straight away and noticed there are internet groups dedicated to trading these tiny pieces of art. I was all giddy (I think I ran to the computer but in reality I am sure it would not even qualify as a brisk walk). The idea of trading art internationally, yes please! Within a few minutes I had went to a web page and signed up Viola! Now, I must say, I already had very poor scrap-booking skills and had no idea how I was going to pull of making art the size of a baseball card. Day after day I looked on the internet for examples and fresh ideas and then I started creating. My early ATC were not all that glamorous and I wonder now if what I made 5 years ago is still glued together since I was using tape runners as my tacky medium (sorry if they fell apart honest, I did not know then what matte medium was I swear!). Ahywho... I joined a facebook page to trade my mini masterpieces and SHAZAM, people were drawing and painting on them too... WTH? Now, up until this point, I really had not bought all that many supplies mainly things like tape runners, fancy papers, sparkly embellishments, rub-ons and a few stamps (all fit into a few large containers, boy those were the easy storage days). I left my paper ATC style to start creating only hand drawn or painted cards and never looked back. Here I am now with a whole room dedicated to art and I seem every day to discover a new medium or substrate (you have no idea how many times I had to look this word up before I remembered what it meant). Every morning I head into my art room with a cup of coffee and wonder what I will create today.

    What I like to create?

Mostly I seem to revolve around whimsical girl portraits and animals. I like to see who will jump out of my brain and what her eye color will be or if she will have on a funny hat and polka dot stockings. I am still learning what I like and am continuing to develop my style (a lot of my arty-farty friends think I already have a style but I suspect that they are just way too nice). Some days I paint on boxes and others on paper but what I really like to do is paint on found items like tree bark or old windows and cardboard from cereal boxes but, always it is mixed media ( I mean with a room full of supplies, one has to mix it up right?). Here and there I will make things like a ribbon doll or create some mail art with stamps. Basically I guess what I am saying is that the sky is the limit or is it? Maybe there is no limit!

I have joked quite a few times that if my male Akita, Kakko, ever stood still long enough I would be tempted to paint him (I think he kinda wants me to... he does seem to tease me with his all white, furry, blank canvasy self by standing beside my art table as I paint).

In general I am just a girl at heart who likes to paint, smile and be silly. I hope you will like my art and will want to own some of it. I sure need the money lol... art supplies aren't cheap!

    Thanks for stopping by!
