Show and tell time, Jeff was to be home late so instead of cooking I decided to sit down and attempt to document a painting. So, what I have learned is that I am a wee bit forgetful and tried to stop and snap a photo as I did each thing but I must have severe art ADD, cause that crap just didn't happen. Maybe next time.
1st image- I retraced my drawing with a micron then used neocolors as the base for her skin.
2nd image- I wet the neocolor and spread it about, let it dry, applied clear gesso and made
another layer the same way.
3rd image- Shadows were added under her eyes and hair line and color on her cheeks and lips
(all neocolor crayons).
4th image- Color was added to her flower hat and bodice using graphite to add shadows.
The nose was redefined with a graphite pencil.
5th image- Orange neocolor crayons were used to add shadow to her flower hat and to her tail.
The background was paintedwith acrylic paint.
6th image- The whole girl was traced with graphite pencil and then smudged to soften.
7th image - By this time my Art ADD was full swing and I had added a crap ton of stenciling using
acrylic paints. Also I added some glitter acrylic paint to her bodice to give it a nice
shimmer after hand drawing a few scales. Along her tail and some in her flower hat
you will see some of the same sparkle.
8th image- Full body shot showing all her sparkles WAPOW.. ,you may need your sunglasses, it is
9th image- Now presenting Mattie the Mermaid (I hear she is a smashing underwater botanist
who uses the vegetation and other fruits of her labor to make super fancy hats... as you
can see, she is wearing one of her flag-ship hats in the painting). I am not sure if she is
selling her hats to the merpeople in her city or if she just gives them to family
and friends as gifts.
